Pre4edgc Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Almost unfit for a place even in the General Discussion, but no other place on the net has a fitting answer. Is there anyone here that can remix music? And if not, do you have any good programs in mind that could? I'm an amateur at anything that goes in depth in technology (I only know bits and pieces of different programs, but never enough...). My friend and I are in the process of creating a video game (it won't be distributed.. Just a mini-project between us) and there is a song that we both like as an introduction, but neither of us have the ability to edit and remix the song to both a reasonable length and a different-sounding.. sound. I would be extremely grateful if you would do this for me, or point me in the direction of someone who could. Thanks!
Realitycheck Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 If you want to pay for it, I found Fruity Loops to be pretty easy to use. If you use Linux, there are a number of free applications that you can use, though they are probably not as good, There are a lot to choose from. I have not gotten around to trying them out much, though this one looked promising, LMMS. Of course, if you want to do it right, you have to have a Reason. Audacity, Ardour, Rosegarden ... there are a lot to choose from. Check out this page. http://www.linux-sound.org/
ecoli Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Audacity might do the trick. Ah, you beat me to it.
thedarkshade Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Snail might be helpful here. He's a DJ or something like that...
Royston Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 DJ indeed, Sir you insult me. I do write music, and if this is an ongoing project, (creating / remixing music for games et.c) I'd recommend Ableton, and perhaps Cool Edit or the Adobe Audition (the 2003 onwards Cool Edit.) You could probably get them cheap off E-bay, and they'll be more than suffice for what you want to do, and give you flexibility to be a bit more creative for future projects. However it sounds like a one-off, judging by your post, and I havn't personally used Audacity, so I can't comment...but it's free, so no harm in giving it a try.
