DeoxyriboNucleicAcid Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Well, I was scanning through a bunch of raw image files from nasa's site, and I came accross this stuff. They are NOT EDITED IMAGES. What are these, they seem artificcial, could it be an affect of the spirit ship on a rock or soething???Here are the image URLs.UPDATE: THIS IS NO JOKE, THESE ARE REAL IMAGES FROM NASA, THEIR SOURCE:http://origin.mars5.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/spirit.htmlANOTHER UPDATE, lolOK, The images were found in sets 56 and 60 of the navigation camera, HERE are links(click each thumbnail to view a larger one, then click again to view the full image):http://origin.mars5.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/spirit_n060.htmlANDhttp://origin.mars5.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/spirit_n056.htmlWhat do you think???????
Sayonara Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 I think you need to choose different rocks, or perhaps different angles.
Hades Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Might that be how they determine chemical composition of rocks?
mossoi Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 It's the same rock!!! Next time, as Sayo says, choose different rocks. Give us some credit.
mossoi Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 although I did find this picture which is quite interesting.
DeoxyriboNucleicAcid Posted March 14, 2004 Author Posted March 14, 2004 THIS ISNT A JOKE!!!!!! The images I supplied you with were real!!!!! IF YOU CARE TO SEE WHERE I GOT THEM, FEEL FREE TO BROWSE THESE FROM NASA: http://origin.mars5.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/spirit.html
mossoi Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 There's about a million images listed in NASA's usual unhelpful way. Can you give us a hint on where to find them on the site?
mossoi Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 On closer investigation it does seem as the second anomaly is overlayed over the first (either in reality or by image editing). I'd like to see the source so I can have a look at them.
DeoxyriboNucleicAcid Posted March 14, 2004 Author Posted March 14, 2004 OK, The images were found in sets 56 and 60 of the navigation camera, HERE are links(click each thumbnail to view a larger one, then click again to view the full image): http://origin.mars5.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/spirit_n060.html AND http://origin.mars5.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/spirit_n056.html
blike Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/rat_circles_040305.html Those circles are created by the RAT (rock abrasion tool).
mossoi Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Cool cool, I stand corrected. So all we need to do is clear up the mystery of the Bugs Bunny Martian and we're home and dry!
Pinch Paxton Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Yeah those look real enough to me. Some kind of spinning tool, grinding away at the rock. It look strange at first because the rock is the same rock, but if you look closely, you can see both patterns on one of the rocks. Pincho.
alt_f13 Posted March 18, 2004 Posted March 18, 2004 That's me in the window fingering Earth. I'm eating the bowl.

Tank Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 May seem unimportant...but on the lower part of the picture is almost looks like two foot prints.
Marz Man Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 May seem unimportant...but on the lower part of the picture is almost looks like two foot prints. It was left by something. Most likely the rover. You can see on the right mark, there is a rock that was pushed down into the light soil. Had to be the rover Unless theres a mechanic working under the rover:-\
Tank Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 Yes, I noticed that rock too. And I figured it was the rover.
NSX Posted April 18, 2004 Posted April 18, 2004 That's me in the window fingering Earth. I'm eating the bowl. lol Tha'ts too expensive i go for the IceCapp to sub as better tasting coffee
