bob000555 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Does anyone know if the reaction of di- or trichloromethane with silver nitrate is possible as in CH2Cl2 + 2AgNO3 -> CH2(NO3)3 + 2 AgCl or CHCl3 + 3 AgNO3 -> CH(NO3)3 + 3 AgCl ? And does anyone also know about the same reaction with silver nitrite?
Mr Skeptic Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 What for? Are you trying to make explosives of some kind? That looks rather dangerous...
bob000555 Posted March 6, 2008 Author Posted March 6, 2008 I was just wondering if its possible for the organic dichloromethane to go through the typicly organic silver nitrate(or nitrite) process. And I suppose it would make a rather good explosive…but I digress.
