mooeypoo Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 "Research for Unlimited Lifespans" -- is this a humorous way of saying it, or is that just another kooki website? The mission of ImmInst is to conquer the blight of involuntary death .. ambitious. Is that even considered possible!? Extending, sure.. but immortal? er.. my Skeptical mental lightbulbs light up with I hear this. ~moo
thedarkshade Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I think that human organism, and organisms in general are way to much complicated to me simulated by a computer. To create a decent and real enough simulation we first have to completely understand the organism which we are trying to simulate, and unfortunately we still do not have that pleasure, because if we did, we be like.. let's say "God"!
Mr Skeptic Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 "Research for Unlimited Lifespans" -- is this a humorous way of saying it, or is that just another kooki website? .. ambitious. But completely immortal, no. Especially if the universe will heat death or be destroyed. And you could be physically destroyed anyhow. But I do believe that we have a chance to cure aging, and maybe even extend lifespans long enough for some of us alive now to live to see it. With genetic engineering and our current rate of scientific progress, who knows what may happen. However, it is a long shot that a cure for aging will be discovered in our lifetime.
