PhDP Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Why is "Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology" a subsection ?
CDarwin Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 The "morphology" always seemed kind of weird to me. Is this the forum where we're supposed to discuss the shapes of things?
ydoaPs Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Why is "Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology" a subsection ? Can you imagine what the CDesign Proponentsists would do if we gave Evolution it's own forum?!?! For gods' sake, man, think of the children!
ecoli Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I agree. Doesn't make sense for evolution to be a subsection of genetics.
Daecon Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Because evolution is most commonly associated with "large-scale" things like creatures and populations of creatures, instead of the DNA itself?
ecoli Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Because evolution is most commonly associated with "large-scale" things like creatures and populations of creatures, instead of the DNA itself? Right... genetics is obviously useful for understanding evolution. But, Darwin didn't need to know anything about to come with the idea, so it hardly seems like it should be a 'subset.'
Daecon Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Isn't the subsection "big" enough to warrant it's own category? It's 11 pages long now...
PhDP Posted May 11, 2008 Author Posted May 11, 2008 Beside, evolutionary biology is mostly associated with ecology. Isn't the subsection "big" enough to warrant it's own category? It's 11 pages long now... It's 25 pages long, vs. 12 for Genetics
CharonY Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 While we are at this (well a few months back), one could also argue that Microbiology is for the most part associated with Biology rather then with Medicine. Likewise Neuroscience (in contrast to neurology) and physiology (even if we only concentrate on human physiology).

Sayonara Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 It's 25 pages long, vs. 12 for Genetics The number of pages of threads in a forum is subjective, much like the number of pages of posts in a thread, because it depends on each member's viewing options.
