antimatter Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Can anyone recommend any good Carl Sagan books? I've read the Demon Haunted World, and I'm about halfway done with Pale Blue Dot (which is a lot better), but I'm not entirely sure what to read next...any advice? I was thinking Contact, for the fun of it, but if there are any other non-fiction books of his that are very good, I'll definitely look 'em up.
iNow Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Contact was a very fun read. SO MUCH better than the movie (which I really enjoyed also). It even had a slightly different story line, which I liked. Contact and the two you listed above are the only three of his I've read, so I'm afraid I cannot suggest anything further. Btw... when I got done with Contact, I read 2001, 2010, and 3001 by Arthur C. Clarke.
antimatter Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 Ok, I'll read Contact next, after I finish Pale Blue Dot. A few relatives suggested the movie, and me, being myself, looked up the book and put it on hold a while ago...unfortunately I forgot about it until about 5 minutes ago when I checked my library account. I read 2001, and 2010, but I found 2061 not very good in the beginning, so I didn't finish it. Because I didn't read it, I decided not to read 3001. I should probably revisit those books now. Thanks for the suggestion/

I also read The Dragons of Eden several years ago. It was okay, but it's sometimes nice to incorporate fiction into our lives so Contact would be my first choice.
smellincoffee Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors is probably my favorite Sagan book. Also, look for Billions and Billions; it's a collection of essays, published posthumously.
Reaper Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I have Contact, Pale Blue Dot, Demonhaunted World, and Cosmos (the book. The show is good too though).
Reaper Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I recommend The Demonhaunted World, and Cosmos. Pale Blue Dot is good, but quite outdated.
antimatter Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 I recommend The Demonhaunted World, and Cosmos. Can anyone recommend any good Carl Sagan books?I've read the Demon Haunted World, I never read Cosmos, but I've heard it's good. That's next on my Sagan list, after Contact.
