olivier
have we tried, or would it work to guide a spaceship in the universe using a sound wave? like teleguidance...? if ther's nothing really out there...no sound really definit, like a mathematical code...the spacecraft would be powered by the code it recognizes despite not really knowing, or knowing where its heading to.......how to send an info...? by sound....sound powered technology maybe the idea of the futur...no? Cap'n Refsmmat
The trouble with sound in space is that there is no air for the sound to travel through. Space is silent.
olivier
so why do we listen to the universe with all those detectors...? like a satellite would transfer the info, transfer the power...
Cap'n Refsmmat
We use radio telescopes (and all sorts of other kinds of telescopes) for "listening" to the universe. Radio would certainly work as a way to guide spacecraft. Most modern spacecraft receive guidance information by radio.
swansont
Even if there were some medium through which sound could travel, it's way too slow to be useful.
Sayonara
There is a similar concept which is that of a photon sail craft propelled by a laser beam. You might find that interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_sail
