Since Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac researched and analyzed the physical properties of different gases what would his field of study be called.

 

For example: Bacteriologist within the field of biology.

Sounds like he was into Chemical Physics. It's the crossover between Chemistry and Physics and encompasses a little of both.

 

 

 

 

PS - I just looked him up and it says that he was a Chemist and a Physiscist.
