James_patageul Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) Hello people, I would like to create a simple Glovebox She not be super complicated... i just need to replace the air by a "pure air" without any dust.. or maybe you know where i can find one for a cheap price ? Thx to all Edited July 10, 2008 by James_patageul
curiouslou Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 cant help you there. but I do have a question sparked by curiosity (and isn't that what science is all about ) What, may I ask, are you using this project for?
CharonY Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 The cheapest glove box I have ever seen was essentially a plastic bag with attached gloves to manipulate stuff inside the bag. It was a French or Belgian manufacturer and still cost around 100 bucks. I have to search for it, though, if there is still need for it.
James_patageul Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 curiouslou : it's for electronic thing but dont support any dust.. thx charon, tell me when you find the Belgian, french mark
John Cuthber Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 This sort of thing? http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/search/ProductDetail/ALDRICH/Z530212 You might want to look at a sandblaster/ shotblaster. They are a lot more robust than the bags but cheaper than a proper glovebox. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SANDBLASTING-SANDBLASTER-AUTO-PARTS-CLEANING-CABINET_W0QQitemZ180264257776QQihZ008QQcategoryZ22662QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
James_patageul Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 hi thx for your reply, the AtmosBag seem cool, but clearly seem very less robust than a true glovebox (i dont find the price of this... and what the name of that kind of product ?) and the sandblaster is really not what i'm looking for, is good for removing big dust, but it not change the all air inside the box, so i could remain tiny dust. in the box.
CharonY Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I could not find the manufacturer of the bags I was thinking of. I think I left the last package in my old institute. Anyway, those tents are of course not as sturdy as "real" glove boxes, and their main use is often to create an anoxic atmosphere. To see the price you have to register with sigma-aldrich. A selection of glove boxes can also be found at http://www.coleparmer.com/catalog/product_index.asp?cls=2035 If you buy glove bags you also have to buy some cotton gloves to avoid damage to the bag. It is not trivial to completely remove dust completely (I am sometimes doing microfabrication, where dust really hurts) and often the bags and boxes are not that clean to begin with.
James_patageul Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 thx CharonY for your reply, maybe, really maybe, i will buy that sort of thing: SANDBLAST CABINET http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SANDBLAST-CABINET-SANDBLASTING-SANDBLASTER-SAND-BLAST_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1683Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1309QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem320344785765QQitemZ320344785765QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools#ebayphotohosting but like as we can see, this is not AirProof(is not the purpose of Sandblast cabinet) so did you think i can easly modify that sort of thing and making it AirProof ? Thx people
