emw
I need to know how to test waters ph level mixed with miracle grow. For the plants I have I need a ph of about 6.5. Also I need to know if there is a way I can change the ph to get it this level.
lanrete
The easiest and cheapest way i know is to use pH paper. There are those out there which can measure to an accuracy of 0.2. Just search the net. If you have the money or resource, get an electronic pH meter.
DJBruce
For your purpose you should probably just by pH paper. I would suggest you go to your local pool or hot tube store and see what pH measuring products they have. As for changing the acidity of the solution you can probably change the volume of the Miracle Grow (that is if it is not neutral) or you could add a common acid or base but such as vinegar or baking soda but I have no idea what effect this will have on the plant or the potency of the miracle grow. frosch45
Considering that soil acidity is based on things like acid rain, I think that it would be safe in your expiriment to have used small amounts of acid or base in order to get pH 6.5. Even if it does have an effect on miracle grow, you are still simulating real life conditions and in order to get your independant variable the only thing that is being changed among the plants, you must adjust the soil acidity so that it will become a constant 6.5 for every plant that you test.
