absolute1 Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 If in Tom eye the grass is blue and Mary eye see it red. You as the parents see it green. So you teach Tom and Mary the world green when see grass. You say "green". Tom hear "Occccck", Mary hear "Baang". So each time Tom see blue color, he says "occcck", and marry see a red color, she says "Baang". You yourself just know that they pointed at the green color and say "green". Deceptions.... all deceptions!
pioneer Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 The problem is not brain perception but language. What each person sees is clear in their mind. Language is simply a noise to label it. We could also use words from any of a 100 other languages, but it doesn't change what the brain sees. The language creates the deception. If you could read each other's mind and see into their heads then there would be clarity. Then the parents would assign the correct word based on what each child is seeing.
Sisyphus Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Deceptions.... all deceptions! Not really. They're all consistent in themselves and can communicate with one another perfectly. What more do you want? What difference would it make to anyone? And if it wouldn't make any difference, then how is their "deception?"
DrP Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 You say "green". Tom hear "Occccck", Mary hear "Baang". So each time Tom see blue color, he says "occcck", and marry see a red color, she says "Baang". You yourself just know that they pointed at the green color and say "green". How they perceive it doesn't matter. The reflected light from the 'green' surface, as we perceive it, is the same wavelength that's hitting the eyes of everyone. As long as they each perceive it in their own ways consistently each time, green will always be green, even if it is perceived as blue by Fred and red by Ernie. They will always see their own colour for the light reflected by the green surface in the same way. i.e. the label/definition of green is based on the wavelength of the light reflected from the surface, not how it is perceived.
absolute1 Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 Thanks for all comments, pioneer: Your is a special case of language. I mean all cases can related. sysiphus, DrP: You're right, if they're all consistance with themselves and establish well comunication amongs, it wouldn't be a problem. What if black is not known yet and they all discover it independently? That's right, they will all interpret their own way and fighting each other for the same thing. This is what happening to religions and science right now, matter of fact, it's an ongoing process until people understand this.
