rufus Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Hi, Please can anyone let me know if there is an accurate computer model of the solar system that I can explore, or if possibly there is a way for me to build one? Also, is there an existing place in the world(!) where people can explore physics concepts using computer models? Thank you.
insane_alien Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Celestia will give you a good simulation of the solar system. as well as a lot of other ones that we have discovered.
Klaynos Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Also, is there an existing place in the world(!) where people can explore physics concepts using computer models? Any university physics department, or similar research facility...
Arch2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Here's a free DL program that simulates the solar system: http://www.download3k.com/Software-Development/Editors-Tools/Download-Solar-System-3D-Simulator.html
ajb Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 I am not sure about a solar system modeller, but Cartes du Ciel is a very good (and free) programme for making astronomical charts. Maybe it is not quite what you were thinking of, but it will show you all the positions of solar system objects as seen from your location. I have never used Celestia, but it does look good!
