chuinhen Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 is there any cause of pulmonary consolidation other than pneumonia i heard of pulmonary infarction & CA if it is true ... what is the pathogenesis ??
Monomer Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 According to this site, "Other causes include any process filling the air spaces with blood, fluid, or inflammatory cells. Alveolar collapse (atelectasis) also causes consolidation." This book mentions TB as a cause of pulmonary consolidation, along with systemic lupus erythematosus, carcinoma, pulmonary infarction, immunological disorders (sarcoidosis), adult respiratory distress syndrome. Check out this book too.
blazarwolf Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Any excessive muccous production (associated with many things) can show up on X-ray. Pulmonary infarction typically comes from a pulmonary embolism. As for cancer... people are still writing bibles on that one.
