nikon560 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Hey there, I have a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology and am preparing for the GRE and GRE BMCB but am interested in obtaining a PhD in Australia. I am hoping someone on the boards here can help with some infromation. 1 Do you have to have a master's before being accepting into a PhD program? 2 As an international student are there stipends set up like there is over here for the biological sciences? 3 Are there any grants by the US gov that apply to this sort of application. I can't think of anything else at the moment but any other information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
PhDP Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 1 Do you have to have a master's before being accepting into a PhD program? It depends. Some universities will accept you directly in the PhD program (example: McGill, Princeton...), some require a M.Sc, and finally, some will only accept you directly at the Ph.D if you have an exceptional background (GPA > 3.7, things like that...). You have to look the websites of the universities you want to apply to. All B.Sc are similar, but graduate programs are often very different.
