alt_f13 Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 Alot of threads are being labeled with obscure or nonsensical titles these days. Check out the home page. I think it would be a good idea to give a better indication of what our threads are about in the future, to save confusion and attract more people to the posts. I'm not saying I haven't been guilty of this before, this is just a reminder.
Dave Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 There's also an announcement about it on every forum.
Sayonara Posted April 12, 2004 Posted April 12, 2004 This is something I have pointed out before in the mods forum.
alt_f13 Posted April 13, 2004 Author Posted April 13, 2004 I noticed earlier. Nothing is foolproof though.
Sayonara Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 Well, my take on it is that since the thread display page uses the name of the thread as the page title, and spiders from Google etc get a lot of use out of the <TITLE> tags, there's definitely a very good case for maintaining descriptive thread names. Also I'd much rather have self-descriptive threads on the forum view instead of that stupid giant alt-tag "preview", which is non-CBC and an abuse of the 'title' attribute.
Sayonara Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 Now there's an RSS feed for the forums it's very important that threads have a descriptive title.
Dave Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 (For those who don't know what RSS is, take a look here - it's basically a way of 'syndicating news', as best put by the specification.)
