dstebbins Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I know if I see it in writing, I'll recognize it. It's the muscle that acts as a one-way door between the esophagus and the stomach. It relaxes to allow food in, but contracts when the food is in the stomach to keep you from puking it. What's the name of this muscle?
Glider Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Lower oesophageal sphincter. Or are you thinking of the other end, where the stomach joins the duodenum? That would be the pylorus.
Livingstone Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 cant be the p cause we are between the eosophagus and the stomach, and the only muscle performing such function is the LES as you rightly mentioned failure of which could bring about a very funny condition called Achalasia! we spent quite alot of time on this last year! Lol, i was just re-reading this post and realized your asking about an Organ 'whats the organ i'm think of?' was this a trick or we all fell into your trap?
