Math and word processor for note taking and homework, know any?

I've been using word 2007 for few weeks now, and its very annoying, VERY!

By the way, it's important to me that it has easy accessible word editing features too

Well I looked at them both

For LaTeX I need to learn a new language and I can't find any guides/tutorials on equation editor for Open Office.

For now my solution is to learn some basic TeX and stick with Mc Word since it supports it (at least some of it)

Any more suggestions?

There is a basic form of LaTex that is just similar to what this site has. I will post the link latter. As for note taking I like One Note. But it is useless for typing papers.

I suggest pen and paper for note taking and LaTeX for typing up these notes and any other written work.

Trying to use LaTeX or anything similar during a lecture will be too difficult. I expect typing any maths (maybe some stuff easy on notation could be ok) would be too slow to keep up.

I have seen people take digital photos of the blackboards.
