DDGD1025 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Could someone generate electricity by using a battery to spin a turbine?
YT2095 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 no, you`d need the turbine to turn a generator, turbines don`t generate Any electricity. although I can`t imagine WHY you would want to do this?
swansont Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 You'd get less energy out of a battery-turbine-generator system than if you hooked the battery up directly to what was being powered. There are always going to be losses.
DDGD1025 Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 I do have a reason. I just dont want to explain it because i think it could really work, and i dont want it stolen. But disregarding energy loss, it is possible, correct?
insane_alien Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 it is possible, possible but utterly pointless. and nobody is going to steal your idea especially as there is documented evidence here that it is your idea.
Kyrisch Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 It sounds like you're "big idea" is about perpetual motion. So, let me reiterate. It is possible, but it is pointless. You would get far more electricity from hooking the battery directly to what you're trying to power as opposed to a turbine.
YT2095 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 and if you`re simply wanting to change the current/voltage type, then this can be easily done with a transformer and suitable driver circuit.
