Crozius Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Now this one im not sure can be done but like my dad always says "the only stupid question is the one thats not asked". My little cousin (who has been living with us for most of this year) has a bit of a download-a-holic problem and using up the limited upload/download allocation, which is 20Gb per month. It should suit us fine and last the entire month. My question, is it possible to limit what speed internet she can access via the wireless network? So that our download limit is not being assaulted so fast. If you need router specs let me know i will get those for you. Cheers Crozius
insane_alien Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 you could install a proxy to limit bandwidth but the cheap commodity routers most people have do not have traffic shaping. if your router is compatible with dd-wrt(or whatever its called, i can't remember exactly) you may be able to do it at the router.
Rakdos Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 If you can give us the router model number we'll be able to help you better
Crozius Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 All i know is that it is a Belkin Wireless Router modem model number is unknown. Will keep looking for the model number.
YT2095 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 you may be able to find out by opening your browser and putting: http://192.168.1.254 or: http://192.168.1.1 into the URL box. the last number of the IP changes (depending on the setup) so play about a bit. this (when you get it right) will take you into the router itself, and Should give you the model number amongst other things. if it`s password protected and factory default, enter ADMIN as the user ID and ADMIN as the password also.
Dudde Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 You should find a sticker on the router somewhere with a serial or manufacturers number - simply put that into google and hit enter! Should give you something for the model
Crozius Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 yea i would do that if it werent under the house... got 3 more exams to do for school before i have anytime to fiddle with the settings on it.
