bascule Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 A video for those with short attention spans! http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1185304443/bctid1799203760 And the whole plan here: http://my.barackobama.com/page This was quite a welcome change from the campaign ads we've been seeing recently, which have been nothing but vitriol and invective. This ad actually has substance.
CaptainPanic Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I have a short attention span. Haven't read the whole plan. It is a good add. No mud throwing... Obama hasn't even mentioned the other party, nor his opponent. He's just calmly explaining his plan. I consider this a very standard, ordinary, basic political advertisement... totally normal in the part of the world where I come from (the small swamp at the end of the river Rhine).
Phi for All Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 This is substantive at a time when Obama's campaign really needs it. Swing voters don't need to hear how bad the other guy is, they need to hear how great Obama is. And the same goes for any Reps who are on the fence about McCain; they'll flock to McCain's defense if he's attacked, but may tip left if Obama can give them hope that he's the guy who'll steer us out of the Bushes onto a better path.
Pangloss Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I agree with that. This was a good week for Obama in that regard, and it's reflected in new poll numbers showing him ahead, though I'm afraid much of that came from comparing McCain to Bush on the economy and hitting him on straw men like "he thinks the economy is fine".
