Realitycheck Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 (edited) I was able to watch the first ten minutes on Youtube, but it only had the first ten minutes. So I go to this website where its posted in its entirety and a few minutes through, I get booted out of firefox. I've got 256 Mb RAM, which is supposedly borderline for Ubuntu 8.04, but I had to downgrade to Feisty 7.x which I believe should be perfectly fine with 256. I have 2.0 Ghz P4, so everything should be fine as far as hardware and this is a fresh install of Feisty with all of the updates so I should be up and running as well as could be. I believe that I've got all of the plugins necessary because the thing plays, but just for a short time. http://www.youdecide2008.com/2008/09/27/video-obamamccain-debate-from-mississippi-926/ Can someone help me with this? Well. I thought I figured it out. I raised my cache size in Firefox from 50 MB to 50 GB and then watched about 12 minutes of it, then my whole computer crashed and shut down. Then, when it came back on, one of the operations programs (Nautilus) didn't start up for some reason, even though everything seems to be running alright. This seems to be developing into an issue that is beyond the scope of SFN. For some strange reason, it rebooted all by itself. I wonder why. Pangloss Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 That actually sounds like a hardware problem, possibly heating or power. You might want to check and make sure the CPU fan is running. If you haven't already, you might want to try running some benchmark programs that fully engage the computer in a loop for a while and see what happens. I've had problems with streaming video in Firefox in Windows, btw. Even after the 303 patch.
