the guy Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 is it possible to make threads out of melted sugar i.e. caramel? if so how is it done, how strong would they be and how flexible would they be? Would it be possible to make stuff out of them? Also are there any other ways of making materials out of sugar? (perhaps by reacting it with some other chemical) if you know of anything interesting related to this please mention it because i am eager to try some stuff with sugar.
YT2095 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 spun sugar is a common thing for desserts, candy floss is another form.
big314mp Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 You could make thicker threads by carefully melting the sugar, and drawing it out with a rod. If the strings are too brittle, you could add molasses or something.
John Cuthber Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I think sugar glass is still used in the film industry for stunts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_glass
Xittenn Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 (edited) Just add butter...................It won't be good for much of anything except eating though. Why not try something like Polyglycolic Acid...............???????????? That's just my way of asking why sugar! Edited March 2, 2009 by buttacup
