JoeInVA Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Lyme disease is the fastest spreading vector borne disease in the US and is also very rampant in Europe. Unfortunately the CDC western Blot test is not very accurate. The insurance companies are following guidelines by the IDSA - http://www.idsa.org - (Infectious Disease Society of America) in order to deny coverage. However, the Attorney General of CT has filed an anti-trust against the IDSA and has requested that they review their guidelines because of a possible conflict of interest of members on the committee that wrote the guidelines. Lyme literate doctors are being persecuted by their peers for trying to treat chronic Lyme disease sufferers. There is at this time, no approved way to treat chronic Lyme disease. The IDSA has basically said that chronic Lyme disease does not exist. tell that to the thousands of Lyme sufferers. An excellent movie documentary was recently released this past late spring, UNDER OUR SKIN. It documents the controversy of Lyme disease. Excerpts can be seen on YOU TUBE. 14 years ago when I first started researching Lyme disease there was about a dozen hits. Today there are more then 3.3 million doing a Google search. A Congressional Briefing Luncheon was held Sept 24th. There was standing room only for the briefing attended by some 80 congressional aides and a couple of Representatives. Several NEWS media was also present. More info in this Congressional Briefing can be viewed on http://www.natcaplyme.org There is also recent information that Lyme disease may induce Autism. A foundation, http://www.liafoundation.org - has stated that mothers who have Lyme disease may pass the bacteria during pregnancy. The bacteria has also been found in mother's breast milk.
