ehsing Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 how silicon nanoparticels which the average particle size is about 50nm used in semiconductors or other electronic materials
iNow Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Hi ehsing, Silicon is usually used as a "wafer." It's like a plate on which we put our food. You feed the silicon into a machine that scratches it and adds chemicals in a very controlled and planned way, ultimately leading to the buildiup of the functioning chips. Several years ago, a grad student did a movie about this. While technology has improved since this movie was made, it still does a fantastic job of explaining the basics. It's called "Silicon Run." You can view the 38 minute program from the link below (you will need RealPlayer installed on your computer): http://www.multimedia.vt.edu/ee5545/ You can also view it at the site below, which has different versions of the presentation and uses Quicktime player instead: http://www.siliconrun.com/sr_1.shtml Enjoy. I hope this helps.
