bascule Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Obama has set up a web site for the "Office of the President Elect" http://change.gov I've got to say, I really love how much Obama works the Internet and electronic communications.
Pangloss Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Did you notice how they're continuing to solicit feedback and collect contact information? It makes sense -- it worked wonders during the campaign. Why not send an SMS text message directly to everyone in the country when he has a new initiative and needs elected lawmakers to support it? He could be the most in-touch president in history. It's odd that I just assumed that would end after he got elected.
iNow Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I, too, like the inclusion and modernity of this approach. I also like how we can review the key initiatives and plans they have... like with Energy and Environment. Thumbs up!
JohnB Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 like with Energy and Environment. Thumbs up! These sound more like politicians promises than targets. I bet many don't happen. Get 1 Million Plug-In Hybrid Cars on the Road by 2015. It's almost 2009, so that leaves 6 years to properly develop, manufacture and sell those cars. According to BTS total sales for 2006 were 7,781,000 units, down some 500,000 units from 2000. I just can't see it as possible to get things on the road at 200,000 per year. Within 10 years save more oil than we currently import from the Middle East and Venezuela combined. How? The site seems long on rhetoric and rather short on concrete. As an aside, his Health Insurance ideas seem okay. I think he could improve them by getting rid of the "Punitive Damages" bit in the legal area though. It's those multi million payouts (or the threat of them) that are driving up many insurance premiums.
