msolo5 Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 I just started this chemistry class in college and I have never taken chemistry before. I am so extremely confused it's not funny. I keep reading the book, but it's not helping. Is there an easy way to remember this crap?
insane_alien Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 as chemical engineering student and amateur chemist, i can tell you its not crap. is there anything in particular that you are stuck on? becuse we can help you more if we know what you know so far.
hermanntrude Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 thinking about it as something other than "crap" will probably help. Attitude is a big part of learning. Any specifics, ask them here... we have a bunch of experts, but don't expect immediate responses. give it a few days.
dirtyamerica Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 When it comes to learning abstract things such as chemistry, you have to digest the information in ways that make sense to you and that will help you remember it better. Even if it's silly it works. But yeah, need more details.
CaptainPanic Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Chemistry is not abstract. You can touch it and feel it, even though it often hurts and it's not advisable in many ways... What I mean is: if you calculate the heat of a reaction (modeling, with textbook methods), and then you do it in the lab, then it will actually become warm or cold. It's not abstract.
