carl1 Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 Hi all, my daughter hsa been asked to solve the following The planet Neptune has a mass of 1.028 × 1026 kg and a density of 1.61 × 103 kg m–3. Use this information to calculate the volume of Neptune. Volume, , is given by m volume= --- p where (m) is mass and (p) is density. You should give your answer in scientific notation to the appropriate number of significant figures and with the correct SI units. Many thanks carl1
insane_alien Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 well you have everything you need just plug in the mass where there is the m and the density where there is the p(its actually the greek letter rho) and there's your answer.
hermanntrude Posted November 22, 2008 Posted November 22, 2008 you also need to know the significant figure rules and how to use scientific notation the top half (or so) of this page should be useful. If you have any difficulties, just ask for further clarification.
