i know the half eqt for it when it is acidic.

but would anybody like to tell me the one when it is alkaline?

which one is a stronger O.A.?

and one more question, while we are using the half eqt to make up the whole ionic eqt, sometimes we will cancel out the element which exist in both side

i.e. 3A+ 6P ---> 3A+5Y

but does it mean that it doesn't require in the reaction?

thank you

i'm not sure if there is a half equation for MnO4 in basic solution. if there is, I dont know it.

As for your second question: something MUST be there, but it doesn't matter what it is. The only reason it's there is that the ions' charges must balance.

I`m wondering if he means spectator ions?

as for the KMnO4, perhaps he means something like in the case of Toluene to benzoic acid oxidation, where either an acid or a base can be used with the KMnO4?
