hermanntrude Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 i would imagine that something like aniline or benzaldehyde might work, although they both have high boiling points. maybe anisole?
DrDNA Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Hi Can anyone tell me a good solvent that will dissolve Michler's ketone (also known by the name 4,4'-bis-(dimethy1amino)benzophenone). Thanks Properties Michler's ketone occurs as white to green-colored leaflets. It is practically insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ether, and soluble in alcohol, pyrimidine, and benzene. Michler's ketone is combustible (HSDB 2001). Carcinogenicity Michler’s ketone (4,4′-(dimethylamino)benzophenone) is reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen based on sufficient evidence of carcinogenicity in experimental animals (NCI 1979). When administered orally in the diet, Michler’s ketone induced increased incidences of hepatocellular carcinomas in rats of both sexes and in female mice and hemangiosarcomas (primarily subcutaneous) in male mice. No adequate human studies of the relationship between exposure to Michler’s ketone and human cancer have been reported. http://ntp.niehs.nih.gov/ntp/roc/eleventh/profiles/s113mich.pdf 1
