Kyrisch Posted January 18, 2009 Share Posted January 18, 2009 This has been thoroughly documented in biology as being the spinal cord and lower brain's job (the parts that don't contribute to conscious thinking, below the cerebrum). These parts are generally referred to as being part of the Autonomic Nervous System. The wikipedia article provides a pretty thorough overview.
