Phi for All Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 nitric, can you please be more specific? Dangerous how? What is it you object to?
insane_alien Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 google borked, it was listing every sight as being dangerous to your computer including if you googled google.
iNow Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Actually, the bork was with a third party. I guess google outsources their checks on malicious web content, and it was this group that experienced the outage. As of time of this post, they are still offline, but google is not showing the error. http://eajournal.wordpress.com/2009/01/31/google-search-errors-created-from-stopbadwareorg-outage/ Every result from Google search this morning is being marked that “this site may harm your computer”. This error appears to stem from a stopbadware.org outage. It is not clear what has caused the outage of stopbadware.org, but hopefully they will release news soon. In 2007, Google partnered with stopbadware.org to check for malicious content on the web and alert users. It appears that the implementation of this integration was not tolerant of errors. Several other sites from Google, including their help sites, are running slow this morning. Updated: As of 9:24AM CST, the error appears to be resolved on Google’s search result, although stopbadware.org is still offline.

iNow Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Did you read the rest of the thread, dude? Here's where I heard about it: http://scienceblogs.com/gregladen/2009/01/did_you_notice_that_the_entire.php
Mr Skeptic Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Actually, the bork was with a third party. I guess google outsources their checks on malicious web content, and it was this group that experienced the outage. As of time of this post, they are still offline, but google is not showing the error. http://eajournal.wordpress.com/2009/01/31/google-search-errors-created-from-stopbadwareorg-outage/ Update: It seems Google have taken responsibility for the error, and that they accidentally added "/" to the list of dangerous sites, blacklisting everything. Then stopbadware.com went down due to half the nation visiting the link to their site that was generated by google.
CaptainPanic Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Lol... a typo or mistake almost brought internet to an end? How cool. Big events usually start with very small things...
