khelben1979 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 At the present I'm a math student and study one time a week in order to improve my current math studies. I want to be ambitious, but I have had difficulties and I often finds other things more interesting: http://picasaweb.google.com/khelben1979/Matematik# I would like your opinions on these so called math notes, they are not intented for a high quality presentation. They illustrate my current work with my studies and some of my problems. And please, only nice comments.
Scientia Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 One thing that I notice from a cursory view is that your solutions are written like fractions. I kept wondering why you were ending up with rational expressions until I noticed the pattern.
the tree Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 What are you actually looking for feed back on? As best as I can tell there's just a lot of answers to a lot of exercises.
jian Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 comments about what? opinions on Maths, or what your solutions for the exercises?
khelben1979 Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 Thanks for your attention! The thing I'm after here is your feedback on anything that you would like to give feedback on. Basically: anything you feel about it. Is that a good anwer?
Petanquell Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Page 40 contains this exercise: [math](x+1)^2=-25[/math] [math]x+1=\pm-25[/math] [math]x=-1\pm-25[/math] [math]x=-1-25 \textrm{ or } x=-1+25[/math] [math]x=-26,24[/math] and note probably about complex solution..(?) What tells you that it hasn't got real solutions? Pq
the tree Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Page 40 contains this exercise: [math](x+1)^2=-25[/math] [...] and note probably about complex solution..(?) "There is no solution, in hindsight." GIYF. Although that's not actually true, there is no real solution but there are solutions - it just happens to have real and imaginary parts. i.e. they're complex numbers. Something that you probably wont be introduced to for a while but may interest you if you want to read around the subject.
Shadow Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Page 40 contains this exercise: [math](x+1)^2=-25[/math] [math]x+1=\pm-25[/math] [math]x=-1\pm-25[/math] [math]x=-1-25 \textrm{ or } x=-1+25[/math] [math]x=-26,24[/math] and note probably about complex solution..(?) What tells you that it hasn't got real solutions? Pq There is no real number which when enlarged by one and multiplied by itself ends up being negative.
