calc problem

not sure if it's in the right section, but hopefully you won't have much difficulties answering this.

 

after seeing a weird hubcap on a vehicle, i had this nagging question, but 1st lets give a little background.

 

on the hubcap, there was a picture of an eagle right in the middle and ofcourse when the wheel spins, the eagle image is reduced to blur.

 

so now my question:

 

how can one make a similar design if at all possible so that when the wheel spins, the image stays in the center and is not affected by the rapid motion(blur) of the rest of the wheel?

 

one of the things i tough might be possible is the create this image like a blur in itself when the object is non-moving. for example: take an image and paste in in the center so that the head is pointing straight up or N, then one that's pointing more or less NE then one E then SE, so on and so forth.

is this possible?

 

another thing, if it's possible to create such an image that will stay centered and highly visible at high speeds of rotation, how can one calculate for instance how many revolutions the wheel make per second at say 60mph.

i know that if you have the total number of revolutions then getting such finer details is easy, but assuming that all you have to go on is that the object(or a wheel as in this case) is rotating at speeds of 60mph, but there's no data as to how far it went(distance) or the total amount of revolutions in that 1 hour at speeds of rotation @ 60mph.

They have those already... I believe certain Rolls Royce cars have centers in the hubcaps that (more or less) stay still as the middles move separately from the wheels. I'll have to look up on that later as I've got to go now, but maybe you can Google it.

I believe they have them on the Jaguar E-Type, but they cheat and mount the logo on an axle seperate to the wheel in the centre, if that makes any sense at all.

 

I wouldn't have thought it was possible to do it at all speeds (apart from if you have your logo as a circle), but for some speeds it should be possible, it's just a matter of finding the right shape.

Ah, right. Must have been the E-Type, I knew it was one of the really expensive ones. The logo itself does wobble a bit as it moves.

 

Gah, I typed out an entire explanation of how to calculate rps from the car's speed, before I realised that you already knew admiral_ju00. :S I don't know how you'd sort out the images you would need to print to make the logo visible just on that, sorry.
