I have been given a genetics assignment to do, 1500 word essay, one of the points my teacher has given me to write about is:

'heredity character and material ( chromosomes, genes, alleles)'

does anybody know what he means by heredity character?

(i am unable to clarify it with him because he is away)

can anybdoy help?

That's a really strange and vague title. I have no idea what he could mean. I don't think you'd be to blame if you just did what you thought was best - if you get a bad grade, complain about the ambiguity.

i agree, i think he must mean heredity characters such as chromosomes, gense, alleles etc, rather than and.

but im glad someone agrees with me! i just wanted to check that i wasnt missing anything in regards to 'heredity characters'.

thankyou for the reply! :)

I would rather think that hereditary character refers to hereditary phenotypes and with material the underlying genetic material is meant. I assume that you should write an assay regarding the connection of phenotype and genotype. Maybe include the experiments from Griffith, Hershey and Chase as intro.
