id like to talk about illegal drugs, from "party drugs and relaxences" like weed, to psycodelics like shrooms and acid.

 

 

 

first:

how strong are the effects of these drugs, from phisical to mental, on the body.

 

 

2nd:

why have they been banned from alot of countrys when other drugs have not, such as alchohal, which if not worse, is atleast equily "bad" as most drugs. now im not realy endorsing drugs or anything, more defending peoples rights to have and use them, but why not have monitered "bars" for drugs, where you can rent a room to use drugs that you buy there, and use there only, cant take the drugs out, get searched on the way out all that stuff, but are alowed to have partys in there, and are monitered and all that to make sure you and any one else with you is safe, and to have set amounts of times you can visit these bars to help prevent addiction.

how well are the streets being rid of these things? obviusly not very well if you can go to pretty much any school on the west caost, if not the entire USA, and buy drugs from weed to crack to presciption drugs? its wal-mart for illegal drugs, and all the drug sniffin locker searches in the world wont stop it. what do you think? should it be stoped, limited, or let free?

First off you can't lump all "narcotic drugs" together since many are distinct, with unique mechanisms of action (at least across drug classes).

 

The reason why some are illegal and some are not is a complex mix of politics, morality, and objective assessment of abuse liability and physical harm.

 

Personally, I think managing drug use should focus on "harm reduction". Reducing the impact of drugs on society. This strategy often focuses on drug use as a health issue, rather than a legal one.

i wasnt "lumping them all togeather" i was simply referencing a few as examples, others are welcome and i know there all different and effect the mind and body diffrently, and im asking for discriptions of how the diffrent drugs react to the body and such.

1. Which drug? Can you be more specific?

2. Different social trends/beliefs/codes. etc...this discussion could get long and ugly.

3. As someone who's worked in law enforcement, I won't go into this. In regards to the second part of this question...take a ride along with a cop one night then visit a rehab and watch people detox.

Terms like "detox" can be applied only to some part of the large group of the known psychoactive substances, because many others have no toxic effects on the body, and cause no physical addiction.

It's true that there are very different kind of drugs, and by no means a parallels between them can(should) be drawn.

Question 1 is really dozens of questions. Some illegal drugs are considerably more "mild" than totally legal substances, some will pretty much ruin your life with one dose. (Don't do heroin, kids.) And everything in between.

 

Question 2 is an extremely complicated question. Though it mostly can be boiled down to paranoid reactionism, and the fact that it's much easier to make a law than get rid of a law. If you're a politician and you say you want to legalize cannabis, for example, then it doesn't matter how rationally you argue your position. You're officially the "pothead politician," who wants to get my children hooked on dope. It just isn't worth anyone's political capital.

 

Question 3 is also complicated, but you're right that the "War on Drugs" doesn't seem to be effective at doing anything but giving dangerous people lots of money, draining government coffers, putting a lot of harmless people in prison, and making sure a lot of sick people never get better.
