Guest Aine Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 Hi everyone, Just wondering if you can be of assistance. I am just wondering if ppm is the same as mg/l. If not how do i convert it.???? Thanks for your help
Sayonara Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 I would have thought it depends on how many "parts" you get to the mg for that particular solute.
YT2095 Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 yup! what he said a mg of Lithium will contain more parts than a mg of Lead.
swansont Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 yup! what he said a mg of Lithium will contain more parts than a mg of Lead. Right. You need to divide the mass by the atomic (or molecular) weight' date=' which gets you the number of moles. And there are 6.02 x 10[sup']23[/sup] per mole (Avogadro's number)
YT2095 Posted May 28, 2004 Posted May 28, 2004 there are 6.02 x 1023[/sup'] per mole (Avogadro's number) the application of that is taken from Hydrogen, as that is how many atoms there are in 1 gram of it and Hydrogen has an atomic mass of 1
