vedmecum
:-)acetone by itself is an excellent solvent . i am not providing you complete ans , just a hint for you :- polar solute dissolve in polar solvent and non polar solute in non polar solvent . or ionic substances are soluble in ionic solvents and same for covalent . Theophrastus
The second thing you mentioned with ionic solvents, only being suitable for ionic compounds, and the same with covalent, is incorrect, as table salt, sodium chlorine (An ionic compound) is soluble in water (A covalent compound). But the first that you mentioned was true- you should find out whether the solutes are polar or nonpolar, whether your solvent, acetone is polar oir nonpolar, and then solve accordingly, as like dissolves like. hermanntrude
if a liquid dissolves a solid, is it technically correct to say that the liquid is soluble in the solid?
