Or you could do the whole food chain all over again, from crab to octopus, to swordfish to small shark, to great white shark to killer whale and even do the food chain all over again.

That would mean there is a 24th consumer.

Food chains generally consists of three or four steps there are however some food chains containing five steps but there are rarely more than five steps in a food chain.

Plants, grasshopper, frog, snake, hawk

the butterfly on the fly-the frog catches the overeating dragonfly 
-the frog is eaten by the hungry one-but the sharp-eyed 
hawk has already eaten it.
