Tesseract Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 There has to be an options for start up section somewhere you should just switch it off.
Dave Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 Someone had a similar problem: http://www.tek-tips.com/gviewthread.cfm/pid/779/qid/847042 The solution was to run msconfig and deselect search assistant in the "startup" tab.

Can any one spot the problem on the Search Assistant on the toolbar? Really apreciate for furthur responds Albert
admiral_ju00 Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 1st of all, if you don't already have one, get a nice little thingie called: SpyBot: Search and Destroy then, in IE, check the installed Objects. IE > Options > Settings > View Objects i usually delete the things here that i have no idea what they are and especially if they list some kind of URL or other garbage in it's description then check the Add/Remove Programs in control panel
albertlee Posted May 31, 2004 Author Posted May 31, 2004 Admiral, I have tried that program, but it still does not help...... Moreover, according to Dave's link, it should work by the mean of registry: Use Search Asst = "no"..... It works on other's Xp, but why mine does not work???? Does any one REALLY know how to disable the search assistant on the TOOLBAR for EVER? Will be so apreciate for furthur responds Albert
Dave Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 I don't honestly have a clue why it's coming up all the time. As a very last resort you could do a re-install, but that's a lot of hassle for such a small problem.
albertlee Posted May 31, 2004 Author Posted May 31, 2004 What ever, Thx for all ur replies.....esp dave and admiral...... Any way, I solve the problem by restoring my XP, but it is a bit also annoying on re-configuring, but still worth it..... Any way, this leads me to another kind of wandering......as I will raise another thread, about Registry.... thx for u guys... Albert
Dave Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 No problems, although maybe you could've posted in this thread about the registry
