benjamino Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me decide on which material i should use. I am looking for a material that has a high specific heat and does not radiate (any or very little) heat from the sun. This material would need to be relatively cheap and easy to obtain. Some one told me that styrofoam may work well because it does not radiate very much heat from the sun, but im not sure about that idea. If anyone has any other ideas on what i might be possibly looking for please let me know. Thanks
Phi for All Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me decide on which material i should use.For what? This material would need to be relatively cheap and easy to obtain. Define cheap. Do you have a budget?
CaptainPanic Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Solid, liquid or gas? And please explain what you need it for - you probably also want a good heat transfer, which means you need to look at a few more parameters than just the type of material. Your description seems to suggest you want to build some kind of solar boiler - please specify this a bit more. One of the materials with the highest specific heat in the world is water - it happens also to be one of the cheapest.
