Well that's true

I had initial problems with gas in my BP cannon.

But now it's quite good becouse my BP Cuality has improved

do you have any suggestions on how to build the propane gas

cannon.?

I Just looked for some pics of those things.

They're nice

But i think a bit out of my capabilities.

But it's a challange.

And i like challanges

i have made a few before they are very loud and have a very big recoil depending on how much gas you use or oxygen/propane mixture but they are a lot of fun,

Heh. Don't be impersonating Pink Floyd. "All in all you're just a-nother brick in the wall." That would probably be painful. ;-)

Oxy-Propane mixes in homemade devices is pure insanity.

don`t even attempt trying that, think what a 1 litre engine can move, and that`s only a petrol air mix. you`re dicing with death in no uncertain terms :(

i Kinda agree with you there YT.

So i changed my mind.

I'll stick to my miniature BP Cannon.

It's prooly more safe but not safe than a Propane cannon.

Fuel Air explosions (FAEs) are in no way safe either.

the advantage with the BP over the Gas type is that you can easily see it and measure it, and it`s less likely to ignite with simple static electricity.

10 days ago i ordered 100 grams of Magnesium powder.

It came today

Yay!

So i mixed 2 grams of Mg and 2 grams of KNO3

WOW

When i lit it

***Flash***

Can't see anything for 2 seconds.

This stuff is strong.

you just be carefull! and I hope you didn`t grind them both together! it`s a great way to lose a hand and your vision on a somewhat more permanent level :(

don`t make more than a gram at a time, and if you`re going to do it safely, I reccomend KClO4 instead, it donates more oxygen and is considerably more stable and powerfull.

please don`t think I`m trying to pi$$ on your BBQ with these warnings, I just don`t want to read about YOU being BBQ`d !

I just crushed KNO3 and then mixed them together.

About KCLO4.

Is it really more stable than KNO3 or what.

LP Aspirin

it`s about the same in all honesty, KClO3 isn`t as stable though.

the Perchlorate is prefered in the Pyrotechnics/firework industry aswell, KNO3 is hardly used outside of BP, lifting charges, fuses and ignition paste for mortar shells.

Posted

So KCLO4 only donates more oxygen to increase the burning rate of whatever

you are using it in.

Would it work well with BP?

LP Aspirin

sure, but it wouldn`t be BP anymore, and adding sulpher to it is suicidal!

a mixture of charcoal and KClO4 is a GREAT lifting charge, and you don`t need much either :)

So if i put a mixture of KCLO4, Sulphur and charcoal.

I'd have to pick my aerial shell from New Jersey of something :D

But more likely my mortar would just blow up!

no, mixing Sulpher with any (per)chlorate can ignite at ANYTIME without warning or apparent reason, it`s VERY unstable!

you may do it 100 times without incident and then the 101`st time BOOM!, your layed up in hospital or worse :(

I've got to ask you something about BP

Someone told that if i pour some hot water over KNO3

so it doesnt' Completely disolve and then add C and S

that this would make better BP than grinding and mixing

and Grinding and mixing........

Let me hear what you think about this.

it is ONE method for obtaining a more intimate mixture sure, but it`s far from perfect and also quite time consuming, a little water sure (mostly for safety sakes), the rest requires intense pressure, THAT is how BP`s made, the "Cakes" are then crushed up and seived into their respective grades (grain size).
