JohnB Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1096959/Mystery-century-old-Swiss-watch-discovered-ancient-tomb-sealed-400-years.html Okay, so how does a 100 year old Swiss watch finish up in an unopened 400 year old tomb? The best guess I've seen is that it was deposited by some sort of animal, a rat or some such. Still........... I love the outre.
stereologist Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 This story reminds me of finding a 'modern shoe' under the sphinx in Egypt. The shoe was identified as a French shoe left behind during a previous effort to study the sphinx.
CaptainPanic Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 My guess is that it was put there by somebody... First of all: not everybody who opens a grave is a grave robber and/or archaeologist. Not every grave robber needs to leave a mess when they're done. Perhaps these grave robbers closed off the tomb again, or perhaps they didn't even steal anything. How did they know it was unopened?
falcon9393 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Maybe the person who had previously occupied that tomb lost track of time hahaha....Omg time puns! just playing though... Perhaps the watch was left behind from swiss grave robbers or a previous archeological dig??? Thus its a mystery!
SH3RL0CK Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Clearly, these particular Chinese individuals were 300 years ahead of their time.
john5746 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 you mean to tell me that the chinese even invented swiss watches?
SH3RL0CK Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 No, the Swiss copied the Chinese watches and sold them in mass quantities for far less money per watch.
stereologist Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Next they'll find an unopened package of Swiss Miss chocolate under the body. Or maybe the body in the tomb is recent and hidden in the tomb by those upset that a fortune in gold was not found.
Baby Astronaut Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Likely just an event who's time has come No, the Swiss copied the Chinese watches and sold them in mass quantities for far less money per watch. And lead tainted
CaptainPanic Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 I found an unopened beer in my fridge, but it was empty. I therefore concluded beer was invented by the guy who came up with quantum tunneling.
feign_ignorence Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 What kind of loon would make a ring in the shape of a watch?
