Shadow Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 http://www.sciencenews.org/view/generic/id/45004/title/Baby_Milky_Way_modeled I've never heard of a Galaxy model that incorporates black matter into the simulation. I guess this couldn't be considered as full blown proof of dark matter, but could it at least strongly suggest that dark matter exists?
insane_alien Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 it tells us that dark matter can produce results similar to what we observe. as for prrof of its existance, they used gravitational lensing to map out the distribution of mass in a volume of space and seen how it corresponded to visible matter in that volume. it didn't correspond at all and the map gives a big cloudy appearance like it would be if it was darkmatter.
