Can any one tell me about their speciallities on CPU of each company?

Well I say the best ones are intel and AMD but the AMD line of processors are better, especially the 64 and ,the 64-fx which is faster that the pentium 4 3.2 GHz special edition. :)

I still say that Itanium is better or better yet in a league of it's own, here's some info on that. But that's a whole new level of power and money.

But if you want someone to do a detailed comparison between the P4, Athlon, Transmeta's cpu's designed for PC's, then it'll take more time than I have or want to dedicate to this. The above websites should tell you the advantages of their new cpu.

as far I am aware, Transmeta's CPU has a main advantage of less power consumption.....

Any way, What would a 64bits and 32bits CPU with same speed differ in performance?

what will the amount of bits do to the CPU and the softwares?

I was under the impression that the Athlon64s and Opterons decimated the Itaniums?

Any body can explain to that?

If my question is not clear to answer.....

then as simple as possible, what will the amount of bits do to the performance of CPU and software? more over, Why people invent CPU with more bits from the beginning till now? rather than the speed?

apreciate in advance :)

Here:

bits=amounts of information

frequency(speed)=speed at which information is transmitted

more bits=more information taken

So a 64bit processor with only 2GHz frequency is as fast as a 32bit processor with 4GHz frequency.

If Im wrong correct me.

Finally....Thanks to every one who has answered my questions....

I know many information about CPU right now :D

but...last question...

If I buy an Athlon 64 CPU, is there windows xp 64? if not, then it really is not worth to use....... if so, where do I buy windows xp 64? and what is it really called?

:)

The XP line of AMD CPU's are completely different from the 64bit AMD's theyre different processors. But both work for the windows XP OS.The only difference between the XP line and the 64 line is that the XP has 32 bits.
