The XP line of AMD CPU's are completely different from the 64bit AMD's theyre different processors. But both work for the windows XP OS.The only difference between the XP line and the 64 line is that the XP has 32 bits.

so, although I buy an Athlon 64 CPU, but my OS and softwares are still 32 bits, then..........

What is the point of buying Athlon 64 CPU?

Thanks to every one's responds....:D

Apreciate!!!

To me, I think to buy a CPU of 64 bits is still not the time yet, because Windows xp 64 is only available in English, and many softwares are still 32 bits...only those which are very technical might be designed in 64 bits.....

Any way, I dont think it is very wise to buy Athlon 64 now :)
