Guest Hyup Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Hi, Im trying to find out if you can retrieve paraformaldehyde from formaldehyde solution by evaporating off the water? or will the HCHO just evaporate away with it? Thanks!
YT2095 Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 this may provide a few clues: http://www.chemicalland21.com/arokorhi/industrialchem/organic/PARAFORMALDEHYDE.htm
Guest Hyup Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Thanks, theres a couple contradictory terms there, "(para) Slowly sublimes to formaldehyde" "Paraformaldehyde is a white crystalline solid by polymerization of methanal gas (formaldehyde, HCHO) by heating" So would it sublime away on boiling or polymerize to the para?
