Me again!

Does anyone know where I can find some more info on beta-minus decay. I have a 11 over 4 Be atom and and have to write an equation for the beta-minus decay of it and show symbols for the boron isotope that is produced and for the other particles that are emitted. Want to do this one by myself but it is still a bit of gobbledegook to me - more of what symbols - 11 over 4Be then an arrow then :confused:

yeah i can tell you actually:

since i cant do superscripts and subscripts...i'll have to use the /

11/4Be->b- + 11/5B

[math]\left.^{11}_{4} \mbox{Be}\right. \rightarrow \beta^{-} + \left.^{11}_{5} \mbox{B}\right.[/math]

Thank you and finally found something that was easier to understand than what is in my text book!

[math']\left.^{11}_{4} \mbox{Be}\right. \rightarrow \beta^{-} + \left.^{11}_{5} \mbox{B}\right.[/math]

You've violated spin and lepton number conservation. :)

[math]\left.^{11}_{4} \mbox{Be}\right. \rightarrow ^{0}_{-1}\beta + \left.^{11}_{5} \mbox{B}\right + ^{0}_{0}\bar{\nu}[/math]
