jordan Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 How do you guys know about this stuff? Do you just hear about it from other people?
Sayonara Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 I have to know about different browsers because cross-compatibility is a big deal in web design.
Sayonara Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 Opera is free, but you need to pay to get rid of the banner (unless you crack it). But this isn't the browser comparison thread
Dave Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 I installed Opera to see what it looked like. 15 seconds later, it was uninstalled due to its complete uglyness. However, this was quite some time ago, so I'm not exactly sure what it's like now. The banner does get annoying after a while as well.
Cap'n Refsmmat Posted June 26, 2004 Author Posted June 26, 2004 What, there's a banner at the top of each page saying Opera? Geez... that would be annoying.
Sayonara Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 The banner shows random advertisers or, if you prefer, google adwords.
Dave Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 It's mainly for that reason that I'll be sticking to Mozilla. What's rendering like on Opera these days?
JaKiri Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 I installed Opera to see what it looked like. 15 seconds later, it was uninstalled due to its complete uglyness. It's skinnable, dude. (And comes with a few, and a 'find new skins' button) And I don't really care about the banner, but if you do, buy it. Or get a 'trial' version from suprnova or equivilent.
mossoi Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 Opera's kinda been left behind because of the whole adverts thing. I think Moz/Firefox is the one to stick with.
Dave Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 Yeah, the development seems to be coming on at rather a fast pace, plus the plethora of plugins/themes/etc that you can get to add to the functionality is rather nice; you don't necessarily have to stick to whatever the browser gives you a la IE, but you can pick and choose features as you want/need them.
Sayonara Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 So make an "advantages of Opera" thread then. Jive turkey.
