Newscientist has a nice set of articles on how we could make the world a better place. Perhaps the most significant is the suggestion that policies should be evidence-based rather than based on "common-sense" or mis-guided popularity.

In my opinion, evidence-based policy and increased international cooperation are key to making the world a better place. What suggestions do you have?

Hmmm, I'm not sure getting rid of common-sense is the way to go, but I do believe that more international cooperation is neccesary to make the world a better place. But we will always have violence and war and hatred and bigotry...I have no suggestions as how to curb all that.

I mostly agree with you, but the trouble lies first in defining common sense. Especially in the trouble areas listed.

I'm COMPLETELY for this one:

10.

Take Friday off… forever

Perhaps strangely, but I disagree. What we should be doing in this world isn't more cooperation. We should have more communication. If from communication we find that cooperation has benefits, then it will happen nearly automatically... as a result.
