No one has mentioned the possibility of“quantum foam” as a solution. There is possibly a numerical justification for this.

Slit experiments, and phenomena like the Casimir effect suggests that an electro-magnetic wave may be regarded as a “bubble”, with the wavelength being the diameter. It also acts as a “boson” carrying the coulomb force, which from the constant, 1 coulomb of force requires 1.50919 x 10^33 “bubbles”.

“Space” contains a variety of wavelengths of radiation, but if a volume is at a constant “black body” temperature it is apparent that the total coulomb force exerted by the bosons in a volume of space will also be constant, and can be represented by an “average wavelength” corresponding to that temperature.

Since our constants are based on one second of time, the volume can be set at one light-second in diameter, and the coulomb force can be calculated from that “black body” temperature, and from this, the number of boson “bubbles” to generate that force. From the wavelength (diameter) the volume of an individual bubble is known and thus the total volume of the bubbles can be calculated:

1.41078 x 10^25 is the volume of a light second. which suggests that "space" is the consequece of the presence of radiation.

 

Now isn’t that interesting.
